Important female head, Franz Hagenauer, Werkstatte Hagenauer Wien, 1970s, brass nickel-plated, marked With her head tilted to the side, the lady looks into the room from a single large eye. Her curls are accurately coiffed and the stylized nose emphasizes her elongated face. Such head sculptures from the 1970s were among the most desirable objects from the Hagenauer workshop. Franz Hagenauer thus further developed his reduced, ovoid heads from the 1930s. He retained the futuristic character with the geometric-oval basic form, but adorned the heads with charming attributes, thus loosening up the appearance. Thus, her stylized, perfectly fitting hairstyle can be understood with a wink. The caricature-like design is matched with the perfect workmanship. This can be seen particularly on the finely soldered metal applications. The two halves of the head are also soldered flawlessly; only the closest inspection reveals the seam on the polished head. The bright polish of the sculpture offers an additional attraction, as the head is not only an object of observation but also a mirroring surface for its surroundings. Thus, this rare female head fills the space plastically and visually. marked with “wHw” in the circle, “FRANZ”, “MADE IN/AUSTRIA”, “HAGENAUER/WIEN”; comp. contemporary photograph in the Hagenauer Archive at Museum of Applied Arts Vienna, inv. no. Importante testa femminile, Franz Hagenauer, Werkstatte Hagenauer Wien, anni '70, ottone nichelato, marchiato Con la testa inclinata di lato, la signora guarda nella stanza da un unico grande occhio.
