Set of six Art Deco style chairs made of blond walnut wood; the shape is very bold, elegant, and refined; the seat has a solid and sturdy support but the design is very light and simple; the backrest also has a basic and measured design; the legs are slender and pleasing, tapering downward, the back ones are slightly curved inward while the front ones are slightly curved outward; what is most fascinating about these chairs is the upholstery made of "leather," which over time has taken on such a distinctive color and appearance that we did not consider doing any restoration or reupholstering in fabric because, as mentioned earlier, its surface veiled patina and small imperfections make it truly alluring and fascinating and attest to its antiquity and authenticity. The chairs were made between 1935 and 1938 in the Art Deco style by expert craftsmen in a workshop in Chambery (France) a town in the woods of the Savoy department, right at the foot of the Alps. Walnut (Juglans regia) is a valuable and expensive wood; the "blond walnut" variety is much more so; it is characterized by a light color with shades tending toward yellow, warm tones, and much more pronounced grain, qualities highly valued in the luxury furniture industry. Blond walnut is a hardwood, its chromatics have been appreciated for centuries, it is a wood that is unparalleled in its aesthetic appearance; blond walnut furniture is highly sought after but also very expensive because the usable wood part in each plant is very scarce. We have to make a clarification about the upholstery of the chairs, we specified that it is "leather" and not "leather," unfortunately in English, there is only one translation for the two words "leather." In Italian, the term " cuoio " refers to very stiff leather (shoe soles, horse saddles) or stiff leather (upper part of shoes) tanned exclusively with vegetable tanning, while the term " pelle " (leather) refers to all types of leather, whether tanned with chrome, alum, vegetable or synthetic tanning methods.
