This armchair is a design by Wikkelsø and taken into production by the company of Niels Eilersen. It is a spectacularly shaped seating furniture with a very beautiful frame of full teak wood. The design details are beautiful, just look at the beautiful twist in the armrest or the beautiful black upholstery in real leather. In addition to optically, the legs, which approach each other at the underside, are also a true challenge, they are proof that both design and construction are of an exceptionally high level. This mid -century furniture has been a real design classic and globally recognized as a world -class design for years. About the designer. There is very little biographical information about the Danish architect designer Illum Wikkelsø (1919-1999). Nevertheless, the rich, organic quality of its designs on the current vintage market confirms its status as an active proponent of Scandinavian modernism in post -war era. Like most Danish designers at the time, Wikkelsø studied at a leading academy. As a specialty, he had the design and manufacture of cupboards. He finally graduated from the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. He later held positions with the furniture maker Jacob Kjaer and the architectural firm of Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen. In 1944 Wikkelsø moved to Århus to work as an interior designer. In 1954 he started designing his own furniture and a few years later he founded a workplace. Just like many of his Danish contemporaries such as Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl and Hans Wegner - Wikkelsø's designs emphasize formal simplicity and sculptural silhouettes. Wikkelsø's background in the manufacture of cupboards gave him a broad knowledge and understanding of materials, in combination with a nice eye for detail, the ingredients for some unprecedented beautiful designs were. He worked with teak and rosewood and formed delicate sculptural forms. Wikkelsø was of the opinion that furniture had to be built to last long, while relaxing the body and let it relax and also had to be a feast for the eyes. Well -known designs from Wikkelsø's career include T118 Coffee Table (ca. 1950s), Gynstol Rocking Chair (1958) and model 91 Lounge Chair and Ottoman for Mikael Laursen (ca. 1959). A number of Danish manufacturers produced the designs of Wikkelsø, such as C.F. Christensen, Holger Christiansen, Eilersen, Farstrup, Silkeborg and Søren Willadsen. Christensen, Holger Christiansen, Eilersen, Farstrup, Silkeborg e Søren Willadsen.
