Refined and elegant Italian walnut bench; the round shape of the frame was obtained by the technique of steam bending, conceived and perfected in 1860 by the Austrian Michael Tonet, above it is placed a soft upholstered cushion covered with fine black velvet that creates a wide and comfortable seat; three ebonized wood planks crossed with each other form the solid and sturdy base. The bench was made in an artisan workshop in Lissone (Monza-Brianza-Italy) between 1930 and 1935 ( the Lissone area has always been famous for the production of high-quality carpentry); the artisans were inspired by the desire to devise a small-sized object with decisive and simple lines and gave the bench a timeless elegance; its design plays between austerity and rigorousness and its exaggerated linearity gives the object a dynamic and elegant character. The entire wooden structure has been restored and we have also had it upholstered with a durable velvet with a refined black color; this operation has been performed by hand with skill and precision by an old Master craftsman from Prato (Italy); we would like to remind you that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world, its craftsmen and companies, highly specialized, are a reference point for creativity, quality, and excellence. Our bench has taken on a personal and unrepeatable charm, becoming a discreet and innovative piece of furniture, capable of creating calm and tranquil atmospheres, giving romance and sophistication to any type of decor. The restored bench is in excellent condition. There is a small period of plastering on the round part (see photo). Measurements diameter cm.43, height cm.45, seat cm.45.
Misure diametro cm.43, altezza cm.45, seduta cm.45.
