Danish Modern 3-Bay Modular Teak Wall Unit by Poul Cadovius for Cado, 1960s.
Mid-Century Modern 3 bay shelving system model Royal. This is an original vintage floating bookcase designed in 1948 by Danish architect Poul Cadovius.
Cadovius had the revolutionary idea to design a floating, modular shelving system that would maximize floor space and signify the end of conformity in shelving. The Royal System shelving unit went on to win the gold medal at the Finland Furniture Fair in 1950 and silver medal at the XI Triennale di Milano 1957 and remained a hallmark of Scandinavian modern design throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Versatile and flexible floating bookcase that allows for continuous rearranging to suit individual needs.
This original Cado Royal System is suitable for both living room, home office or library. The two cabinets with drop down woven fronts each has two drawers and one adjustable shelf. Display cabinet with double sliding doors has one adjustable glass shelf.
All elements can be moved around as desired without the use of tools.
This set consists of:
4 Uprights in solid stained beech, length 198 cm.
2 Cabinets, 40 x 80 x 51.5 cm.
1 Display cabinet, 24 x 80 x 33.5 cm
10 Shelves, depth 20 cm.
Stamped "Made in Denmark" on the back. Patinated brass brackets.
This item will be disassembled for transport.
Good vintage condition with natural patina consistent with age and use like small nicks and scratches. A few longer scratches on top of one cabinet. Small missing part of the plastic around the keyhole. All parts have been checked and all surfaces has been cleaned and refreshed. Ready for use.

Sistema di scaffalatura a 3 vani modello Royal. Si tratta di una libreria galleggiante vintage originale, progettata nel 1948 dall'architetto danese Poul Cadovius.
Cadovius ebbe l'idea rivoluzionaria di progettare un sistema di scaffalature modulari e fluttuanti che massimizzasse lo spazio a terra e segnasse la fine del conformismo nelle scaffalature. Lo scaffale Royal System vinse la medaglia d'oro alla Fiera del Mobile di Finlandia nel 1950 e la medaglia d'argento alla XI Triennale di Milano nel 1957 e rimase un segno distintivo del design moderno scandinavo per tutti gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta. Libreria galleggiante versatile e flessibile, che consente di riorganizzarla continuamente in base alle esigenze individuali.
Questo originale sistema Cado Royal è adatto sia per il soggiorno che per l'ufficio o la biblioteca. I due armadi con frontali intrecciati a ribalta hanno ciascuno due cassetti e un ripiano regolabile. L'espositore a doppia anta scorrevole ha un ripiano in vetro regolabile.
Tutti gli elementi possono essere spostati a piacere senza l'uso di attrezzi.

Buone condizioni vintage con patina naturale coerente con l'età e l'uso, come piccole scalfitture e graffi. Alcuni graffi più lunghi sulla parte superiore di un mobile. Piccola parte mancante della plastica intorno al buco della serratura. Tutte le parti sono state controllate e tutte le superfici sono state pulite e rinfrescate. Pronto per l'uso.
