Great painter of still life and marine born in Italy but of French school where he spent a large part of his life.
Since 1894 an associate of the "Société des Artistes Français", performing in the Salon des Artists as "Baron Deslandes".
He was in his youth a French naval officer who received the Médaille Militaire, was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1858, and became an administrator and diplomat.
A descendent of Pauline Bonaparte, sister of Napoléon I, he was created the first Baron Vivier-Deslandes by Napoléon III in 1862, the year of his marriage, through the resurrection of an extinct family title.
His maternal grandmother, Angelica Catalani (1780-1849) had been painted by Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. He became a painter who by 1894 was an associate of the Society of French artists, exhibiting in the Salon as Baron Deslandes.

Grande pittore di nature morte e marine nato in Italia ma di scuola francese dove trascorse gran parte della sua vita.
Dal 1894 è socio della "Société des Artistes Français", esibendosi al Salon des Artists come "Baron Deslandes".
In gioventù fu un ufficiale della marina francese che ricevette la Médaille Militaire, fu nominato Cavaliere della Legion d'Onore nel 1858 e divenne amministratore e diplomatico.
Discendente di Paolina Bonaparte, sorella di Napoleone I, fu creato primo barone Vivier-Deslandes da Napoleone III nel 1862, anno del suo matrimonio, grazie alla resurrezione di un titolo familiare estinto.
La nonna materna, Angelica Catalani (1780-1849), era stata ritratta da Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. Divenne pittore e nel 1894 fu associato alla Società degli artisti francesi, esponendo al Salon come Barone Deslandes.
