Iconic and distinctive pair of wall sconces; they are made of brass while the two opposing dishes, one truncated cone, and the other round, are made of sheet metal painted white both externally and internally, inside are arranged the light fittings and the electrical wires run inside brass tubes that distance the dishes from the wall, the tubes are connected at the center of the two dishes with a joint that allows you to rotate them 360 degrees according to your wishes or decorating needs, however, each wall sconce, when turned on, will project two opposing beams of light of different width on the wall, narrow from the small dish and wide from the large dish. The sconces were created in a specialized lighting workshop in Milan (Italy) between 1960 and 1963, the artisans were inspired by the Mod. Diabolo of the Stilnovo Company makes a perfectly similar product that is 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. It was a laboratory and a hotbed of ideas during the post-war reconstruction and the following economic boom. Stilnovo triggered interest from the historical publication “Domus”, to become an essential point of reference for prestigious names in Italian design, such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and CorradoAroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, De Pas D’UrbinoLomazzi Studio, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri and GaeAulenti who designed memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What characterizes Stilnovo, in the 50s, is the production and marketing of lamps with a particular cone shape. At the time designed by the Centro Stile Interno, they became unique pieces. True symbols of the elegance of the 50s. In fact, they left an indelible mark on the design and fashion industry. Many companies and small craftsmen have created similar lamps, but in their products, they have always had to stick to and maintain the great quality of the original product. Measures width cm.35, depth cm.15, height cm.28. The items are in good condition, and the brass parts show slight signs of time, but this guarantees their age and authenticity. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other countries must always be checked by an electrician before use.
Diabolo dell'azienda Stilnovo realizza un prodotto perfettamente simile e 100% made in Italy.
