Unique Ceramic Sculpture by Cor Dam (1935 -2019), the Netherlands 1970s. Beautiful abstract work showing strong interlocking cubistic shapes, finished in a glossy anthracite enamel. The irregular cubic 'base' is part of the sculpture and is finished in a slightly rougher glaze which creates a nice contrast with the top. Dam studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague, he made sculptures in ceramic, concrete wood and metal beside sculptures he made paintings and ink drawings. from 1950 - 1965 Cor Dam was involved at the art department of 'De Porceleyne Fles' (est. 1665) wider known as Royal Delft where he was responsible for special art commissions. After that period he worked on many projects at 'Keramische Ateliers Structuur 68', a ceramic workshop which was the place to go for many artist who wanted to make something special in ceramic, it was the first atelier who made it possible for CoBrA artists to have their works produced in outspoken colors. Due to all this technical experience Dam was capable to make very experimental and technical correct artworks. This work is a good example of his great craftsmanship and outspoken aesthetic eye. Scultura unica in ceramica di Cor Dam (1935 - 2019), Paesi Bassi, anni Settanta. Splendida opera astratta che presenta forti forme cubistiche a incastro, rifinita con uno smalto lucido color antracite. La "base" cubica irregolare fa parte della scultura ed è rifinita con uno smalto leggermente più ruvido che crea un bel contrasto con la parte superiore. Dam ha studiato alla Royal Academy of Arts dell'Aia, realizzando sculture in ceramica, cemento, legno e metallo. Dal 1950 al 1965 Cor Dam ha lavorato presso il dipartimento artistico di "De Porceleyne Fles" (fondata nel 1665), più noto come Royal Delft, dove era responsabile di commissioni artistiche speciali. Dopo questo periodo ha lavorato a molti progetti presso il "Keramische Ateliers Structuur 68", un laboratorio di ceramica che era il luogo di riferimento per molti artisti che volevano realizzare qualcosa di speciale in ceramica; è stato il primo atelier che ha permesso agli artisti CoBrA di produrre le loro opere in colori vivaci. Grazie a tutta questa esperienza tecnica, Dam era in grado di realizzare opere molto sperimentali e tecnicamente corrette.
