Image dimensions: 49.7 x 49.7 cm. Desarticulation Sur Fond Rayé is an original artwork realized in 1972 by the famous artist Hans Bellmer. Colored lithograph Included frame: 62 x 59.5 cm Hand-signed in pencil on the lower right. Numbered on lower left. Edition 12/120. In excellent conditions. The artwork represents a surrealist composition typical of the Bellmer style: the artist is known for his project on mutated body forms of dolls and their unusual poses. Here it is represented a ''disarticulation'' on a striped background. Bellmer believed indeed art could stimulate desire in the viewer, and he played with his objects to explore how an artificial figure of a girl could create authentic passion, desire, or fantasy. Hans Bellmer was a German artist, who, when his works were declared ''degenerate'' by the Nazi Party in 1938, was forced to flee Germany to France. In France, Bellmer's works were welcomed by the Surrealists around André Breton. Hans Bellmer developed the Surrealist theme of mannequins and dolls as metaphors of sexuality with a singularly obsessive focus.
