Vintage Danish teak wall unit by Poul Cadovius for Cado, 1950s.
Mid-Century Modern 5 bay shelving system model Royal. This is a original vintage floating bookcase designed in 1948 by Danish architect Poul Cadovius.
Cadovius had the revolutionary idea to design a floating, modular shelving system that would maximize floor space and signify the end of conformity in shelving. The Royal System shelving unit went on to win the gold medal at the Finland Furniture Fair in 1950 and silver medal at the XI Triennale di Milano 1957 and remained a hallmark of Scandinavian modern design throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Versatile and flexible floating bookcase that allows for continuous rearranging to suit individual needs.
This set has three short and three longer uprights, and can be configured for both living room and home office. It can also be hanged as two individual 2 bay units.
This set consists of:
2 Uprights in stained beech, length 105.5 cm.
1 Upright in stained beech, length 81 cm.
3 Uprights in stained beech, length 49.5 cm.
1 Cabinet with four trays/drawers, 40 x 80 x 51.5 cm
1 Large shelf/desk leaf, 40 x 80 cm.
5 Shelves, 24 x 80 cm.
3 Shelves, 20 x 80 cm.
This is an early model with the extra deep teak patina.
Stamped "Made in Denmark" on the back. Patinated brass brackets.
This item can be disassembled for transport
Good vintage condition with nicks and scratches and light corrosion on the metal parts. Patina consistent with age and use. All parts have been checked and all surfaces has been cleaned and polished. Ready for use.

Sistema di scaffalature a 5 vani modello Royal. Si tratta di una libreria galleggiante vintage originale progettata nel 1948 dall'architetto danese Poul Cadovius.
Cadovius ebbe l'idea rivoluzionaria di progettare un sistema di scaffalature modulari e fluttuanti che massimizzasse lo spazio a terra e segnasse la fine del conformismo nelle scaffalature. Lo scaffale Royal System vinse la medaglia d'oro alla Fiera del Mobile di Finlandia nel 1950 e la medaglia d'argento alla XI Triennale di Milano nel 1957 e rimase un segno distintivo del design moderno scandinavo per tutti gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta. Libreria galleggiante versatile e flessibile, che consente di riorganizzarla continuamente in base alle esigenze individuali.
Questo set è composto da tre montanti corti e tre più lunghi e può essere configurato sia per il soggiorno che per l'ufficio. Può anche essere appeso come due unità singole a 2 vani.

Si tratta di un primo modello con patina di teak extra profonda.

Buone condizioni d'epoca, con graffi e lievi tracce di corrosione sulle parti metalliche. Patina coerente con l'età e l'uso. Tutte le parti sono state controllate e tutte le superfici sono state pulite e lucidate. Pronto per l'uso.
