Unique top quality cupboard of the hand of top designer Severin Hansen. Severin Hansen is a famous designer from the early days of the Mid Century Modern Design, although less known than many of his contemporaries, his work is no less wanted. There is much less known about the designer himself, his designs are often remained more exclusive than enjoyed many generation that we know from this fascinating period of Scandinavian design. Born in 1887 in Denmark, Severin had already passed the sixties when in the late 1950s the now characteristic tight design from Scandinavia came up, with this he was also considerably older than the other designers from that time. At the end of the 1950s he designed a series of lamps for Haslev Møbelsneskeri on so -called tripod's, also known as tripod and/or tripod, these lamps are very sought after objects today. Even rarer are the furniture that is made according to his designs, it is always striking to use clean lines, the very best use of materials, the perfect connections in the woodwork and the craftsmanship that splashes. Also in their own time the furniture was expensive and exclusive, we see in particular coffee tables that have managed to survive the test of time. Less known, and therefore even more exclusive is the fact that there is a collaboration between Hansen and the Danish porcelain producer "Royal Copenhagen" that would lead to a series of unique furniture. Royal Copenhagen specialized in hand -painted and glazed ceramic tiles of world level, in combination with the designers Eye of Hansen, that resulted in a series of highly exclusive furniture of which the tables in Pallisander and Rozenhout are the best known. What is not known to many is the fact that there are also substantial format mirrors and appropriate furniture/cupboards, the cupboard as offered here is such a hugely rare copy and sublime quality. At the front we see the characteristic sleek design and sharp corners, the beautiful drawers come out perfectly with their subtle handles in the form of a recess in the dark frame that is deposited on the top with a beautifully executed tile in an extreme fine color combination of mostly green accents. At the back the whole is marked in double, as you can see on the photos.
