These Italian bedside tables from the 1950s are very pleasant in proportion and have acquired a refined patina over the years. The four legs are made of solid rosewood and are responsible for the special character of this design. They have gouged alternately in a pattern that strongly reminds us of the style of Ico Parisi, but also of the incorporation of medieval building elements as Studio BBPR has done. The feet appear wider due to gouging from the corners to the height of the bottom shelf. Where the shelve is connected, the leg is wider again and then runs upwards in a slimmer shape. This is all an optical illusion because, in terms of dimensions, the legs remain the same width. At the very top, the legs are finished in a pyramid shape. The drawer is faceted all around and is decorated with a veneer where the drawing of the wood is vertical. A small and also faceted handle decorates the drawer. The beautiful yellow-red color of the rosewood lends itself perfectly to the design and size of these bedside tables. Hence a more dramatic wood drawing has been chosen for this veneer and that fits perfectly. As we mentioned before, these items are blessed with a beautiful patina. The condition of the cabinets is very good, but of course, they have incurred signs of wear, according to their age and use. Light scratches and stains are part of that. One of the blades has clearly suffered some moisture rings but this does not detract from the special charm that these two bedside tables exude.
