Slender dining table in solid wengé and steel. What stands out is the equal shapes of the top and the bottom: both boat / surfboard shaped. Very harmonious. The top is made of solid wengé that was fully restored by our in-house professional but still shows the old patina that give it its charming character. The top is quite thin and shows the nice dark wood wengé structure and flames. It's smooth and rock hard but has nice soft rounded edges, perfect to let your arms rest on. The top rests on a steel cross rising from the bottom plate and small screws attach the top to this cross. The pole is blue-ish and both the pole and the bottom has been painted several times showing heavy signs of use. We left it like that because we love it because it gives the table its character. We do not recommend but if you want we can easily paint this but that will make the table look new again, because the top has been refinished already. The bottom steel surfboard construction is very heavy due to the cast iron and around it is a brass ridge that gives this table a french brasserie like appearance. Again, we did nothing with the brass but with some effort we can make it shine again. Maybe not such a bad idea as long as you leave the rest as is. But old brass is so nice so it's totally up to you. The table is big enough for 6 people and because it's not so wide you quickly get an very intimate setting. You can kiss over the table!
