Original B/W xylograph. Hand-signed in pencil by the artist on the lower right corner: Andrée Karpèles. Numbered in pencil on the lower left corner: 25/50. Edition 25 of 50 prints. Passepartout included (cm 30 x 23.5). Excellent and dramatic representation depicting three women dressed with long dark dresses. One of these, in the center, has his eyes blindfolded and is supported by a woman behind hew. In the lower part, a third kneeling female figure has his head turned down. The scene is intense but at the same time dramatic and vibrant. The work has been realized by Andrée Karpèles (Paris, 1885 - Cannes, 1956), a French painter, illustrator and author. Andrée Karpèles was the wife of the publisher Carl Adalrik Högman with whom she founded the Chitra editions. She was the pupil of René Ménard and Lucien Simon. She studied at the Lycée Molière (Paris). She exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1907 to 1914. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. Una di queste, al centro, ha gli occhi bendati ed è sostenuta da una donna dietro di lui. Nella parte inferiore, una terza figura femminile inginocchiata ha la testa rivolta verso il basso. La scena è intensa ma allo stesso tempo drammatica e vibrante. L'opera è stata realizzata da Andrée Karpèles (Parigi, 1885 - Cannes, 1956), pittrice, illustratrice e autrice francese. Andrée Karpèles era la moglie dell'editore Carl Adalrik Högman con il quale ha fondato le edizioni Chitra. Fu allieva di René Ménard e Lucien Simon. Ha studiato al Lycée Molière (Parigi).
