Artifort Orange Slice armchair. A Chair should be more than Simply Functional. "The Orange Slice armchair by designer Pierre Paulin is one of the most popular designer armchairs in the world. Rightly so! The iconic armchair makes every room more open, more spatial and happier. The most striking feature of the Orange Slice is that the two identical shells of the chair seem "to curl". If you look closely, it's just like the chair always laughs at you. In 1952, designer Pierre Paulin became acquainted with the technology to bend multiplex. This technique was the basis of the F437. Soon the armchair was nicknamed Orange Slice, because of the parable with orange discs. The Orange Slice is a much -praised Artifort classic that has been released since 1960, and remains popular to this day. Iconic in every living room or lobby.
About the designer.
Pierre Paulin (1927) makes a big impression during an international furniture show, organized by Kho Liang Le, with a contemporary Kuipperchair. Soon after the show he becomes a freelance designer for Artifort. It is the start of a long and fruitful cooperation. His designs are distinguished by the striking sculptural design. Paulin wins many prizes worldwide. His work appears to be timeless and to this day modern and progressive. Not shape for the shape, but applied design. Artifort still carries many of his designs from the sixties and seventies in the permanent collection. Paulin's work can be seen in museums around the world. In addition to furniture, he also designed the interiors of the French presidents Pompidou and Mitterand in the Elysée Palace in Paris. Pierre Paulin died in a hospital in Montpellier (France) on 13 June 2009. French president Sarkozy spoke about him as "he made an art of design". In November 2009, Paulin was awarded the British award, Royal Designer for Industry. This copy. Poltrona Artifort Orange Slice. A ragione!
