An original early 19th-century watercolour painting Farleigh Hill from the Road to Bath.A beautiful topographical drawing in grisaille wash, showing a view described as 'Farley[sic] Hill from the Road to Bath'. This appears to be in the region of Monkton Farleigh and Farleigh Wick, on the route to Bath from Bradford on Avon. This drawing likely dates from the first decade of the 19th century, shortly after the completion of the Kennet and Avon Canal section from Bath to Foxhangers in 1804.The drawing has a freedom that seems to represent the transition between tinted topographical drawing and the bolder, more fully developed manner of watercolour painting characteristic of the 19th century, associated with artists such as John Varley and the Monro School. On laid paper. All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and—if it is a collection artwork—its accompanying collection text or artist biography. Signed: No. Inscribed: Inscribed lower left. Height: 10.2cm (4″) Width: 16.2cm (6.4″) Condition: Minor age toning and mount burn as shown. There are historic adhesive marks to the upper edge and corners verso, from previous mounting. Please see photos for detail. Presented: Unframed.
Bellissimo disegno topografico in grisaglia che mostra una veduta descritta come "Farley[sic] Hill from the Road to Bath". Firmato: No. Inscritto: Inscritto in basso a sinistra. Presentato: Senza cornice.
