Glass table T by Studio Cas-Lucas Recchia. Dimensions: W 40 x D 40 x H 40 cm. Materials: Glass. Technique: Fusing glass. Table T is a piece developed at the request of the Iberê Camargo Foundation, responsible for taking care of the work of the artist Iberê Camargo. The inspiration for the table was the architecture of Álvaro Siza, the architect responsible for the foundation's work located in the city of Porto Alegre, south of Brazil. Firma Casa rearms its role as the driving force behind Brazilian design and bets on the first collection signed by designer Lucas Recchia, from Studio Cas. "I remember that in one of my rst meetings with Sonia, I presented the project of a table that used 3 thousand glass balls. Her immediate reaction was to ask me if a glass would stand still on this table. I quickly answered no, and she decided to invest on the project. Today, this piece, which is made from 100% recycled glass in a manual process that takes more than 80 hours for the fusion of glass, is the one that best reects the aesthetics of my work," says the designer on the role of Sonia Diniz Bernardini, known for having launched names such as the Campana brothers, Claudia Moreira Salles and the Nada se leva studio. Lucas’ premise is to experiment with new materials and techniques that reect contemporary society and its desires. Created in this context, the Morfa Series consists of 11 pieces developed exclusivelyfor Firma Casa in Brazil. Glass is the inspiration for the collection. In Lucas Rechia's design, its straight lines gain a new language and the curves that glass assumes in the production process, which combines ancient techniques and high technology used in the material fusion process. "It took a year for this collection to develop the types of glass used, ranging from recycled glass to handmade glass with the same degree of purity as crystals. To launch the collection, 3 tons of sand were used, on which art design pieces will be displayed. The designer chose sand as the symbolic starting point for the production of the collection pieces. The "dunes" were assembled by the designer, in an analogy to the handcrafted manufacturing process and the volumetry of the pieces. Under the 5m high ceilings of Firma Casa, the exhibit will feature water in suspension and projections in LED in order to provide the refraction of light on the glass pieces.
Tavolo in vetro T di Studio Cas-Lucas Recchia. Dimensioni: L 40 x P 40 x H 40 cm. Materiali: Vetro.
