Large handmade stoneware vase model no. 21678 by Johannes Hedegaard at Royal Copenhagen, Denmark in 1959. The vase is glazed in a beautiful glossy blue glazing with the elegant pointy feet left unglazed unveiling the raw reddish stoneware clay. This is a signature feature of Hedegaards works at Royal Copenhagen. The vase is signed by Hedegaard and the three waves of Royal Copenhagen underneath. Johannes Hedegaard (1915-1999) worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1948-1966 and became known for his ceramic works and relief works for both Royal Copenhagen and from his own studio. His work has been exhibited at the Lunds Museum, Chicago Institute of Arts, and several Danish Museums.
