The Boucherouite comes from the Arabian term "Bu Sherwit" which means "used clothing tips". The nomads of Morocco began making this rug in the 60s and 70s by necessity rather than mode. Like our other Berber rugs and the Beni Tamper, the Boucherouite rugs are woven by women in Morocco. The design and patterns of the rugs give a very nice result to watch.
Women who manufacture these rugs generally follow a free style when they sew, the pattern being generally asymmetrical. Woven patterns are important symbols for tribes that manufacture them.
