Part of our exciting collaboration with the renowned 5 th generation Aronson Antiquairs of Amsterdam, Eliza & Lan Caihe have been lovingly handcrafted from two authentic antique Delftware vases, circa 1710. We’ve paired them with handmade custom contemporary lampshades in a luxurious white satin with blue trim. Delftware objects are rarely dated and if they are as these ones, it usually means they were made for a special occasion. The decoration and detailing is extremely refined and one can tell that they were handpainted by a very skilled master. Long Eliza is the common name in the traditional antiques trade of a Chinese export porcelain decorated with an elongated women, often in the vicinity of a dancing small boy. The name is a translation of the Dutch "Lange Lijzen". The elongated woman is thought to be He Xiangu , one of the Eight Daoist Immortals and the other person, often shorter and boyish looking, is thought to be Lan Caihe , another of the Eight Daoist Immortals. The brass tops have been custom cut to the exact shape of the vase bases and the lamps are also fitted with new matching deep blue cords. E27 bulb fittings. We can adapt the plug depending on the country you will use it in. The lamps were made without harming or permanently altering the original vase in anyway. dimensions 56cm height with shade 28cm diameter (shade)
