Fragile

Created in 2000 by Alessandro Padoan, Fragile is a Milan-based gallery specializing in 20th-century Italian design. Its collection includes works by Gio Ponti, Angelo Mangiarotti, Carlo Scarpa, Osvaldo Borsani, Gino Sarfatti, Franco Albini, and other design luminaries from the 1950s through today.

The gallery has moved and expanded a few times since its inception. In 2012, Fragile added a Paris arm to its holdings, at Impasse Simon, Saint-Ouen. In December 2013, the Milan gallery relocated to a showroom completely designed by Alessandro and Francesco Mendini at Via San Damiano 2—a vibrant, colorful location that consciously breaks from the more traditional white cube gallery space. And in spring 2014, Fragile opened an additional gallery space for contemporary design that overlooks the internal yard of Via San Damiano 2.
